March has been a busy one. Between hosting dinners, publishing our first proper thought leadership piece, and gearing up for what's shaping up to be a packed April, it feels like we blinked and the month was gone.

Iru Apple Admins Dinner — A Night to Remember

Our Iru Apple Admins dinner went ahead this month, and what a night it was.

For those who don't know, Iru Apple Admins is a community dinner series we run for Mac Admins across the UK — a chance to get together, swap war stories, and talk shop over good food and better company. No sales pitches, no sponsored keynotes. Just people who manage Apple fleets for a living, sitting around a table and having real conversations.

This one was a particularly special edition. We had a great turnout despite some earlier concerns around TfL strike action on the day (London, you do keep us on our toes). Everyone made it, the conversation flowed, and we left with that familiar feeling of being genuinely energised by the community we're part of.

The SSO Tax — Our Take on a Problem Fintechs Know Too Well

This month we published a piece that's been brewing for a while: a deep dive into how fintechs can automate User Access Reviews without getting stung by what the industry calls the SSO Tax.

Here's the short version. Many businesses assume that because they have SSO in place, their access controls are sorted. But SSO is an authentication layer — it tells you who someone is, not what they still have access to and whether they should. That's a user access review issue, and it's a different one.

The challenge? Most of the platforms fintechs rely on charge a premium just to expose their identity integrations. Want automated provisioning? That's another tier. Audit-ready logs? Another add-on. Before long, you're paying through the nose and still doing quarterly reviews in spreadsheets.

We broke down the smarter approaches — centralising access data without forcing every app into an expensive SSO integration, automating the review workflow itself, and using lightweight directory connectors where full SSO isn't cost-justified.

Fintech Dinner with Doppel

On 27th February (sneaking this one in — it was technically the last week of Feb but we're claiming it for the Rewind), we co-hosted a fintech dinner with Doppel.

For those unfamiliar, Doppel is an AI-native platform focused on social engineering defence — think phishing takedowns, impersonation detection, and brand protection for financial services. They're doing seriously impressive work in a space that's only getting more urgent as AI-powered threats become the norm rather than the exception.

The dinner brought together a brilliant group of people from across the fintech world. The format was deliberately informal — no presentations, no agendas — just great food, honest conversation, and a room full of people who genuinely care about building more secure financial services.

What we love about evenings like these is that the best ideas don't come from slide decks. They come from the conversations that happen when you put smart, curious people around the same table. We came away with new relationships, fresh perspectives, and a few ideas we're already putting into action.
